GIVI Outback trekker on a K7
« on: October 19, 2018, 21:42:22 »
I'd like to fit the Outback Trekkers to my Vee GT K7.
I've read the compendium, so if I read correctly, the mount for the Wee won't fit on account of the frame differences due to the exhaust.

Has anyone fitted these on their Vee of this year with or without modification? There is no listing for the mount on the Givi website for my model, but I'm sure I could modify the Wee's mount if necessary.

Or I just get a different pannier.

The foot peg mounts are different. And the exhaust will get in the way. Too much effort to try and get it to fit.

You can put standard Givi PL racks on the k2-9 Vee. But you would need the PL-CAM racks for the Outback Trekker boxes which they don't make for a bike that was discontinued 10 years ago.

You can fit the Dolomiti boxes to the Standard PL racks. Then use the boxes on your next bike. There is never a guarantee Givi with do the CAM rails for you next bike but a fair chance they will do PL.
(PLX rack are different again and only for the V35 stupid shaped panniers)

Thanks Mr ****Diver

Very helpful, so I will either need to go down the route of SW-Motech (expensive and unlikely) or the Givi Trekker.

I have considered getting a 650 mount and adapting it, but seems a little bit over the top.

A few people have gone down that route... then decided against it when they have the 650 rack.and bought the appropriate rack.
Mainly it was for oem luggage on the cheap where they could get a 650 rack but not a 1000 oem rack.

I did re-drill the oem rack and fit Givi mount to have Monokey boxes.
But it's not as easy as it sounds. You have to make up a template to make sure the holes will line up.
I don't have the bike anymore to take any more detailed pics.

Thanks

Just seen this.
Bought the Givi racks, which are wrong and going back, will take the dimensions off that and fix the monokey replacement fitting as you have shown.

V helpful to kno9w its been done with success
