2015 Glee rocker cover gasket weeping oil.
« on: July 30, 2018, 20:23:05 »
My Glee has just done 18k miles and for last couple of rides I have noticed that the rubber gasket and side of the cylinder on the offside of the front cylinder has a film of oil on it.
I have cleaned it off with contact cleaner but it comes back next ride but over about 600 miles I only had to top up with about 25 to 30cc of oil to get back to maximum.
I could only see one bolt on the cover on that side and getting an Allen key on it there was no sign that it could be tightened.
I’ve tried to do some research online and it seems that the gasket is reuseable so think when the 15k valve check was done it was reused but didn’t notice any problem until about 17 k miles.
I presume that to fit a new gasket the cowling, fuel tank and airbox would need to come off, which is probably more than I would be comfortable with doing myself.
Is this gasket likely to suddenly fail on a ride and cause a serious loss of oil? Or should it be OK to keep an eye on it until the next service at 22.5k miles?
Thanks, Mark.
