Hello from reet lovely Rotherham
« on: April 24, 2018, 15:09:03 »
Hello folks,

Good to join such an active forum. Picked up my 2015 V-Strom 650 last weekend. 1500 miles. Grey/black. Heated grips, Givi screen and SW Motech sump guard.

This is bike number 25 that has graced my garage since my first bike - a Suzuki RG125 Gamma in 1994 ! Last ones to go were a Yamaha MT-09 and a Honda CB500X. Wanted a bike somewhere in between these two in terms of performance and do it all ability. Test rode a Tracer 700 but found it underwhelming for the money - and a bit 'flimsy' if you know what I mean.

Done about 200 miles on the V-Strom now and my first impressions are really positive. It's incredibly easy, relaxing and comfortable to ride. You don't feel like you have to ride like a lunatic - but you know that you're not going to get stuck in traffic and have some fun when you want to. This bike feels like all that's good about simple, pure biking. Maybe it's my age (I'm 48!).

Engine, handling and comfort all great. Brakes pretty average (going to strip them and clean them up plus some new fluid at the weekend). Also the bike is very quiet - can't make my mind up whether that's a good thing or not. Aftermarket stuff is not cheap so mulling that over right now. Have bought a carbon hugger and mudguard extenda (well you have to buy something for you new bike don't you !!!).

Looking forward to putting some serious miles in this year. Safe and happy two-wheel motoring to you all.

Regards

Tim

Welcome Tim, you've chosen wisely with this forum. You are also incredibly lucky as the worlds foremost authority on auxillary fuseboxes also resides in Rotherham and frequents these pages.

If you enjoy caaake and the company of losers keep an eye on the rideouts section. :welcome:
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

...thanks for the welcome everyone !

Cake - worth getting out of bed for every day !

Just in the process of fitting a Pyramid Plastics carbon hugger. Taking my time - taking a few bits off to get it perfect. Nothing like some tinkering time in the garage - good for the soul !

Take it easy folks.

Regards

Tim
