Head light flasher not working
« on: December 19, 2017, 11:14:07 »
Hi, my head light flasher trigger switch is not working.

I am able to switch the main beams on through the headlight switch.

Anyone know if it is a replace or a clean job?

If replace, where does the connector for the switch gear plug in? Is this a pain in the back side or easy enough job?

Also, is it an MOT failure?

Help appreciated.

Hi ,
Either the switch is faulty which you could try to clean if dirty or its a corroded block connector which is located behind the radiator .

I'm an MOT tester and would pass it as long as the high beam switch worked although it's a discretional decision made by the tester .

Check the two screws that hold the pod to the handlebar. The top one is a little shorter than the bottom one if they were put in properly. If the two are swapped, the longer one on top can damage the hazard switch. Suzuki should have made both screws the length of the shorter one.

It's also clear evidence that the designers were thinking in a very 2 dimensional way.

Squirt plenty of WD40 (or whatever you use) into the switch and press/wiggle the switch as much as you can. This should clean the contacts and with any luck it will work again.
The flash switch tends to go wrong through lack of use - it happens on several bikes quite often.

The headlamp flasher hasn't worked since I bought my bike and every year the MOT tester tells me it's not working then passes the bike  :thumb:

It wouldn't have relays installed for the headlights would it?

I ask because I got a set of cheap relays from ebay but they were 5 pin relays which will throw the power through one or other wire, you would have dipped or main beam, but not the two at the same time as when you push the passing button.

Was an easy fix with a reconfigure of the wires to and between the 2 relays.
