Spluttering
« on: September 23, 2017, 15:14:18 »
Hi all.
When I cruise along slowly, not accelerating or decelerating  (more so when cold) my 07  650gt coughs and pops,  sometimes causing a stall if pulling away.......
Has anyone else had this happen ?  And if so what caused it ?

Any ideas please lads and lasses

650s rarely have fueling issues. How long have you had the bike and how long has it been acting that way? What items are on it other than stock? Is it much below 3000rpm when it happens?

Hi, thanks for the replies.
It happens at lower revs on pulling away or when neither accelerating or decelerating, I've had it two years and it's always done it but I've always shrugged it off.

It should be fine when you've finished running it in and give it a good thrashing  :smirk:

What engine revs? Could you be "lugging" the engine, to the point of stalling it?

How much lower revs? 2500-3000rpm is the lowest the bike can handle cleanly under load. Much below that and the clutch has to be slipped to have at least those revs at lower speeds.

Hi,my 650k7 never seems to run quite as smoothly as the weather gets cooler. It sometimes cuts out completely when off the throttle quickly coming to a stop, and very rarely it will hesitate on acceleration. However it's so intermittent I haven't investigated it any further.
The usaual culprits seems to be the tps,but as mine seems to be temperature related I'm thinking the air temp sensor could need looking at,other more experienced members may have other  ideas though.
Have checked the TPS  in dealer mode and it's OK.
As you've sort of been living with it suggests its probably a similar issue as I'm having.

Wonky TPSes seem to behave more poorly in warmer temperatures. You may have something there.

Both can be checked with a multimeter, check the resistance.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

It's difficult to check a TPS. It can test okay but be erratic in use.
