k8 Vee rebound screw?
« on: August 30, 2017, 19:44:29 »
hi just looking for advice please.
On the bottom of the rear shock there's an adjuster screw with  s/h on it. at first the screw seemed stuck so I gave it a turn and it freed off. the problem is it just spins and spins either way. any ideas please?

That's the rebound screw for oil flow to your shock. :thumb:

Is it supposed to just turn freely for ever?

Balls looks like that’s broken then. Does anyone know where I could get the shock repaired in the uk?

If you're going to get one done you should have the other serviced at the same time, especially if they have not been serviced before.
It will also save you a lot of money if you can remove the forks from the bike.

Being from down south no real idea of any where up north other than KAIS, but they specialise in race bike suspension, but may still service normal suspension.

 I really must learn to pay attention  :dl_smiley_banghead:

Still cheaper if you can remove it, and if them forks havent been serviced they will be over due a fresh batch of oil in them.

The screw is tapered and works on a rod that runs the length of the shock shaft and controls oil flow/damping.
The lower hoof of the shock is removeable but the screw is captive so I can't readily be accessed/repaired. As luck would have it, I 'may' have the lower hoof complete with screw in my vstrom box of bits - you are welcome to it for cost of post .- it will need to be accurately measured before & after disassembly otherwise the base damping settings will be wrong.
