pad replacement

after replacing      both back and front pads on my vstrom 1000 the abs and tc lights want go out   any ideas

Have a look at the front and rear abs sensor as you may have caught it when doing the pads, what mileage have you got?

15000 it only happened after replacing pads

also got new rear tyre the fitter said the ecu might need reseting

 I cleaned the abs ring on rear wheel if that makes any difference

The ECU is not a learning type. Check the sensor placement, wiring and sensor rings.

is the sensor a tiny little magnet because I found one on the floor cylinder type

update removed the rear sensor its snapped in half  a bit clumsy removing caliper thanks again for the help

Always remove the sensor first and replace it last when working on a wheel. Do not take a chance by leaving the sensor in place. It is fragile and expensive. The sensor is a magnet plus coil. The alternating steel then blank rectangles in the ring cause a pulse change in magnetic field as the field is stronger with the added steel and weaker at a blank hole. The field pulse translates to a power pulse in the sensor wires.
