Plugs 8 or 9
« on: July 30, 2017, 14:56:27 »
:fix: hi big trip coming up giving bike once over, checking the plugs seem OK standard cr8,rummaging around found a set of cr9eix (x4 new) ooh me thinks save money, now I know these are a colder plug but surely still stays within the heat range. All advice and quips welcome, also having to replace sprocket carrier bearing (cage coming apart bike on 30k) seems to be a thing anyway thanks in advance  :ty:

my sprocket carrier bearing died long before 30k, at 29k it had massive play and cage in 3 pieces. You'll need hydraulic press to get one out, even after heating up needed 4 tonnes of persuasion to get bastard out. New one frozen in freezer, housing heated in owen to 250 Celsius and bearing fell in.

Can't help with spark plugs

I would stick to the stock heat range. A liquid cooled bike maintains combustion chamber temperatures very well and a plug outside that heat range will need to be replaced earlier, negating the savings.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s
