Puig Hugger Fittting 2016 Glee ?
« on: June 05, 2017, 11:04:48 »
Now I've bought the bike it's time to bolt on a few useful bits.
If anyone has fitted a Puig hugger could you explain how the bracket fits to the offside of the swingarm & then to the hugger ?
The instructions are n't clear thanks in advance.

There is a thread on here somewhere about this hugger and fitting. :thumb:

Cheers,
Looks like I've sussed it.
The instructions for clamping the bracket/bridle around the offside of the swingarm are inverted.
When you turn the paper around it makes sense.
Annoying that you need to cut the tab off the bottom of the plastic ABS cover.
Otherwise the tab hits the hugger when the shock compresses.
Will add to this thread once I've got it fitted.

Well this would be a piece of pi$$ if I could undo the two chainguard screws !
Do Suzuki use an Araldite/Superglue mix to make sure they stay in ?

Well it's fitted.
One of the nice fellas at Burwins slackened off the chainguard screws.
Apart from the bolt that fits on top the swingarm it's easy to do.

And while I was at it, I bolted on the Heed engine bars.
Top quality & fit for much less than the Suzuki ones.

I only found out 2 years ago, after 32 years of working on Japanese motorbikes, that the crosshead screws they use are JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) and not Phillips or Posi. The angles are slightly different and using Phillips or Posi drive screwdrivers in them tends to eat them easier hence people think they are made of cheese (including me until I found out!).
Bought myself a set of No 1, 2 and 3 JIS screwdrivers and they work a treat - no more chewed up screw-heads. I even removed the small screws that hold the butterfly valves in the carbs of my 1100 Katana and they had been lock tighted in and also been in place over 30 years with no issue, all heads intact.

These are the same set of screwdrivers I got:

Only found out about JIS drivers from James May's "reassembler" programme.  It was the only redeeming feature of an otherwise dreary, pointless show.
