EBC Brake Pads
« on: June 19, 2017, 23:16:50 »
Hi
Need to change the brake pads on my Glee AL5 and was looking at the spec for EBC Stintered Double H , it states-
Most Double-H pads are fitted (if needed) with stainless steel radiator plates which help in reducing the heat transition into the caliper and brake fluid.

Does anybody know if these pads come with the above mentioned stainless steel radiator plates.
The codes for the pads are FA174HH rear, FA229HH front left and FA231HH front right.

My EBC pads did not come with metal plates or the additional fiber plates on the rear. The stock plates fit the EBC pads perfectly though.

As per GW, I had to reuse the stock ones.

Thanks for the Replies,
last year while in the Alps I cooked back brake twice, fronts OK but the back has a more restricted air flow so more prone to overheating , unless it was something else.

Rear brakes cook from overuse. The fronts provide almost all the stopping power as braking shifts weight forward and need to be applied harder than the rears. Riders tend to use too much rear brake because foot muscles are much stronger than hand muscles. Also, some riders are afraid to use the front brakes and never learned to brake properly. There is also the possibility the rider is riding the rear brake unknowingly.
