Bad corrosion on crank cover.
« on: May 23, 2017, 22:18:12 »
Hi.

I've had my 2014 DL1000 for a couple of years, the bike is only 30 months old.
I recently had the misfortune of getting a lift home with the AA when the 'strom decided it didn't like the fresh oil I had put in earlier that day.
Further investigation found that there was corrosion around the bolts holding the crank cover, and in one place the corrosion had actually gone through the cover.

The bike is out of warranty, but my local dealer is going to contact Suzuki.
It maybe worth those with a 2014 'strom the check round these bolts to see if anything is amiss. I have the lower cowling which covers these bolts making it tricky to see them!

Another thing was the clutch slave cylinder also having a load of corrosion.

Other that these bits, a great bike..

Richard...

Good luck getting a positive outcome from Suzuki.
