YSS rear shocks. Any good?
«

I'm looking at options for a new rear shock and the YSS at £245 is in my sort of price range. Is it any good or a load of pants?
I know there are better rear shocks but obviously they are dearer. Are there any others I should be looking at which won't break the bank?

Shock Factory (
www.shock-factory.co.uk
) are well worth a look. Yes, they are more expensive than the YSS by £100 but the quality is much, much higher - think Wilburs or Ohlins quality for half the price ! They will be made bespoke to your requirements too so can be made shorter/longer with heavier or softer springs, all at no extra cost. The adjustment they come with means you can really 'dial in' the shock to suit you perfectly. I've had two of their products now and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, Mike Capon (the owner) is very knowledgeable and gives great advice on the phone too. Obviously you have the Hagon option too (
www.hagon-shocks.co.uk
) which gets you a decent shock for similar money to the YSS. Or, you could get your stock shock rebuilt. Loads of places offer this service for around the £150 mark - google Your heart out and find someone local. Best of luck

Cheers for that 2112.
An extra £100 isn't too far out of my reach and sounds like money well spent.
I'm not over keen on having the stock one rebuilt, I'd rather have a better unit.

I'm in the same boat, mine will last until winter but it'll need either rebuilding or replacing. By the time you change the spring and rebuild you're well into a new shock territory. Decisions, decisions...
