Re the £40 headsets;
They look okay, though not as well made, and with such good materials as flasher versions. Earpieces are quite big, though smaller than my Autocom ones. Boom mic looks big by comparison with Autocom version. Info states the unit is waterproof, no idea how effective the waterproofing is but the charging/headset jack looks like a possible ingress route, having said that similar designs use them, so maybe they're better than I imagine. Read through the manual, (yea I know..what kind of a bloke reads the manual.? technophobe ones is the answer) seemed easy enough, so with the unit in my hand I connected to my phone (old Samsung) and was able to answer a call, and call the last number I'd dialled. But couldn't figure how to have it read messages. Listened happily to a radio via my phone, but didn't attempt to connect to my Garmin satnav. I didn't fire up the second unit either, but the guide suggests you need to press the side button each time you wish to talk. Decided for me, they offer little over my Autocom, especially as I'd use them simply to chat with my pillion, so they're going back. I could imagine if you needed some for bike to bike/occasional chat reasons.. I.e. "I'm busting & need a p../need petrol/lookout speed trap!" type conversations, they'd be great.
Glad I tried, but not best suited to my needs. ;-)
