Removing the main stand - What's involved?
« on: March 26, 2017, 16:45:40 »
Hi Folks.

Just wondering if any of you have experience removing the main stand, what's involved and how much of a PITA to complete? Mine needs some serious TLC.

Thanks

It's two bolts on each side and two springs. It's a good idea to use a puller to remove the springs first so the bolts don't get bound up or damage the tapped holes.

An old trick for removing tight springs is to insert a coin (2p?) between each coil in the spring. This has the effect of lengthening the spring and is usually sufficient to release it. Leave the coins in for replacement.
