Blind as a bat..
« on: February 25, 2017, 12:48:25 »
Ere, I've gorra question..
Anyone like me, of the more 'mature & experienced' disposition, find they struggle to read the mileage or time displayed on the dash when darkness falls.? I have no problem during daylight hours but once the lights come on I go blind.
I have reading glasses but obviously wouldn't ride in the them, and some bifocals which are horrid to wear, but wondered if any had experimented with magnifying sheet of some kind.?
Any thoughts folks..

Have you tried adjusting the display brightness?

What..!
Adjustable brightness..what madness is that (he says while manically flicking through the owners manual)..
 :violence-smack:

Will give it a try, but I think it's more my eyes than the brightness or otherwise of the clocks. Anyhow.. I've only owned the bike a few years.. how was I supposed to know about crazy stuff like a dimable dash..  :sunny:

I have some bifocal specs, terrible things to walk in, never mind ride.
Never tried bifocal contacts, can't say I fancy sticking contacts in just to allow me to see the time/trip, as that's all my presbyopia stops me from seeing.
Just ordered theses - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Set-of-4-MAGNIFYING-FRESNEL-LENS-CREDIT-CARD-SIZE-MAGNIFIER-SHEET-/201789691963
Will see how they work out.  :thumb:

My optician made my bifocals so the lower half of the lens is focused at a little less than arms length. This is so I can read sat-nav, speedo etc and still see down the road. However I still need another pair of 'reading classes'.  Some years ago I tried "Varifocals" for some time and found I couldn't see anything in any mode. That experiment cost me over £700.
Opticians eh! can they see me coming?
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

Have you tried multifocal lenses?
I use them to correct my myopia to focus close and distant objects and I know there's a version for presbyopia too (a friend of mine uses such lenses).
It may take some time to get used, since they require to meve your head to get the right focus.
Being shortsighted, it took me a couple of months to get used.

I suspect they are varifocal lenses over here, I use them and I think they work great. I tried contacts but struggled to fit them and then remove them.

Must try harder.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.
