pr3 and pr4's are fine but on our roads the metz roadtec 01 are perfect ,

Hi mate I can't find the roadtecs in vstrom sizes? 110/80 19 and 150/70 17
anyone  using a pr4 trail front and a reg pr4 rear? I have 9000 miles on a set of anakee 3's not that pushed about them, and they are crap on any muddy lanes, pack up with shit in no time, might as well be a slick as someone said.

if you're not going to be scraping pegs than the metzler tourance (just make sure they're not the next or the exp type )
What's wrong with Tourance Next tyres? I have got them and they are streets in front of the original squirmy Battlewings, and a reasonable price too.

PR4 Trails are doing well on mine. Good grip in the wet and wearing well after 4000 miles.

Did you put trails on both wheels? some say the reg pr4 rear lasts longer,
I'll check out openeo, thanks

The regular rear does last longer, I've had both. I've got Roadsmart 3's on at the moment and they are every bit as good as the PR4. Can't say if they will last as long as they have still over half their life left yet.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

My choice is between,
PR4 (trail front/reg rear) at 254 euro   and metzeler roadtec 01 at 296 euro.
suppose there isn't much difference in them performance wise on a 650 strom.

I have the pr4's (trail front, regular rear), on my  Veek, they have been superb, wear well, perform very nicely in the wet,and I take them to the edge of the tread on the rear with confidence in the dry.
they allow the bike to drop into corners at speed a little faster than the original ditch finders, yet are stable when upright at all speeds, good tyres!

metz 01 's all the way , contrary to what most amadan's say irish roads are different to the non EU funded  roads so what suits the bouys in the uk doesn't necessarily mean it will suit our roads 70% of our back roads are like the coarse side of a cheese grater , I've got the 01's on and I cannot fault them especially on the strom , realistically when or why would you want to take that donkey of a bike off road ,  pics of mine at a post below ( roadtec 01 ) at 4200m now at near 6000m and can show pis but the flat spot s not become bigger

The roadtec 01's are very very good tyres... since I sorted the front wobble (loose head bearing) the thing tips into corners beautifully, sticks like glue to the road.

I've done a few gravel access roads and rough tarmac and they handled it fine. They are very predictable and I need a good handful to make the back step out.
Starting to see a slight squaring of the rear, but that's with 300miles of loaded touring and my daily motorway commute (1000 miles since fitting)

I'm still not a fan of pure road tyres, I mis the 50/50 dual sport tyres but changing them so often became boring.

No problem,do not worry ????
A friend of mine is the dealer in my county. Some engeneers went out from Metz and went there.
I have seen it and touch with hand. They are not dual compound but this is better for me. The only doubt is the mileage. If they work for 10.000 km, sure are OK.

Roadtec 01's fitted, these tyres sure as hell warm up quick, early days yet but very happy with the grip and feel so far,it will be interesting to see what mileage they do on a 650.

If I get 8k from the Roadtec 01's I'll be happy with them on the Varadero.
Heidenau k60's and Anakee 2's gave 6k but I could have got another 1k out of the Anakee 2 rear but I wanted fresh rubber for Fat Rat's meet and North Wales trip.
I'm liking them and they seem to be wearing slowly.
