A field full of these at the Windermere end of Kirkstone Pass. They were in the news last week I think.

Yes it is done to deter sheep stealing.
Though IMHO the thieves are in cahoots with the butchery (sorry - can't spell abattoir) folk.

This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.
