2013 650 L2 Valve clearances
« on: October 26, 2016, 22:53:52 »
Hi

This afternoon I completed a 60k mile service on the above, and would like to let you know that the valve clearances were easily within spec, and I just put it all back together again.

This was my third look at these clearances (15k and 31k miles) and the gaps have not moved (recessed) since the initial check and adjustment at 15k miles.

I am set for the next check at 100k, and I would like to thank Greywolf for the tip of leaving these clearance checks a little longer than the normal service intervals.

Cheers

I plan on checking them soon as well. Where did you get the shims from? I've seen a set for around £60 but I don't think I would need all what's in the box anyway.

Hi Fuel Drinker

When I needed shims, I got what I needed from my local Triumph dealer, as he had individual shims in increments of 0.02mm instead of Suzuki's 0.05mm, which made life easier, but I have heard that Suzuki are better these days.

The shims were only £4 each, and the dealer was happy to take back any which were not damaged, for a refund, so that was cheaper than buying a box full, which might not have the exact shim required.

Cheers

Any local bike shop will have shims in the workshop, most will do an exchange for a couple of £ each.
