Best place to get a switched live feed for LED fog lights
« on: September 15, 2016, 19:38:08 »
I'm wiring in some LED fog lights via a handlebar switch, just wondering where around the bars is best to pick up a switched live feed, always on when bike is on?

2006 VEE in case you're wondering...

If you help I promise to take pics when finished ????

I am a qualified electrician so just need where and wire colour thanks!

Why not get yourself one of these  then run a cable from there. Plus a couple more fused outlets for more goodies!!

Just used mine to rewire my spots & DRL's today.

I would wire in an aux fuse box that comes live via a relay. You will get stronger power for your lamps that way.
You can find a switched live at the feed for the brake light switch or the horn, use this to turn on the relay for the aux fuse box.

The bigpie fuseboxes have a switching relay fitted. They're a neat easy solution to wiring in extra circuits to the bike.

For an ignition live I used the orange wire on the horn feed.  This is OK for a relay signal or just voltage monitoring,  not sure how much current you could draw from here though. I used it for a voltmeter feed on my 2014 Glee. :fix:
