Cheap winter or all season gear?
« on: August 03, 2016, 16:41:33 »
I'm no longer such a fat bastard, just a plump one. Having lost 4 stone this year, but with around 6 stone left to lose, I am going to be in need of some gear to take me through the winter. But knowing it is then going to be useless at my new weight I don't want to spend much, just enough to get me through the winter in relative comfort and relatively dry.

Any recommendations on relatively cheap gear to see me through one winter?

If you're sure it'll just be temporary I'd be inclined to look for some second hand stuff then sell it on when you reach your target weight.

Good luck btw.

These are a bargain at £50. The sizing is very generous.  The eBay seller Numberworth is actually Fowlers of Bristol who are located just over the road from Weise. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361493737739

How about using your existing gear with layers of fleeces, wooly jumpers and long johns underneath. Save a bit of money so you can buy some decent gear when you're at your target weight.

Thanks, second hand gear is a good idea. Hopefully, I can get similar quality at my current size to what I have now and, like you say, sell it on next summer.

I find these offering good value and the kit is good.

GO to the Bike Show at the NEC, always pretty good & cheap gear there  :lala:

Thanks for the second hand suggestion. Picked up a second hand Rukka ArmaX jacket and Rukka Focus trousers for £230 all in. Better than my 20 year old Dainese kit that was top of their line at the time. Should get what I paid for them when I sell them in the Spring.

It might be worth joining the UKGSER forum, you have to pay £12 a year if you want to buy and sell but the GS lot change their kit very often, I bought Rukka Matti trousers for £140
