Dropped my bike, now the throttle is sticking! Need help!
« on: September 02, 2016, 10:03:11 »
Hi fellas,

First time on here (typical - only contributing when I need something)!

Bought a 2014 Glee a couple of months ago and really loving the bike but today I did something stupid. I left my disc lock on when I set off and dropped the bike! Picked it back up again and started the engine but the throttle is not returning when I let go, it's stays where you twist it to. I did take it out for a ride but after a few minutes of running the fuel injection light then comes on.

Any ideas? All help appreciated!

Cheers,

Woody

Do you have bar ends that may have been pushed into the throttle tube, causing it to stick?

I do have bar ends but it fell on the clutch lever side. That being said the fall did upset the clutch lever a bit, I had to readjust the clutch in order to get it biting properly.

At lunch will have a look at the bar end on the right to make sure it's not cocking things up. Incidentally I did fit grip puppies over the weekend to help with the vibes.

Have you moved one of the Grip Puppies whilst lifting the bike?

Surely something simple,  as the other blokes have said.
Don't feel too bad, I once done the same thing with the wife on the back and in a crowded bike park at Scarborough!  Lucky it was grass, she still talks about it!!

Thanks for the support blokes, all sorted now. Yes it was something simple, the hand guard had seated itself between the spacer and the bar end so that the spacer was being pushed against the throttle. Will watch out for that if I drop the bike again!

Dropped 'dero the other day on the Grossglockner. Wife on the back.  Took 3 of us to lift it.
wouldn't start. Tried everything. Checked all fuses etc which reset the trip meters half way through the trip to Austria - bugger.
After half an hour another biker said "Are you in neutral?"
Yep. Its the simplest things, sometimes.

Ah see!  Nice simple fix....

Like the other fellas, I've dropped mine too.... but so far I've managed to keep it a solitary affair with no audience haha!
