Alloy Sump Guard

Just wondering, as my searches haven't thrown up any real pointers, has anyone fitted an alloy sump guard to their L4 or younger Strom?

The web threw up a Givi version that looks worse than some of the ones I've knocked up for other bikes.

I'm in the throws of working out a DIY solution, in case nothing more useful than the Givi one sufaces.

Looking forward to seeing what you blokes have got instead of the wobbly plastic thing Suzuki calls a guard.

There is also touratech if you're feeling flush.

Hi Steve T,
Ravetech is my company name and user name on here. I designed & built our 4mm aluminium skid plate around my own 2015 DL1000.
The Ravetech skid plate fits dirrectly to the frame and does not have any fittings mounted to delicate engine cases. I purposely made this plate with it's own front mounted drop tubes to allow customers a choice of crash bars. It has been well received on the market for over a year now and well tested by me and our customers with no reports of failure. Ease of installation and removal for maintenance was also key in the design and takes a few minutes although it does have the ability for oil changes to be done whilst fitted. Thank you RazzleH. Unlike the Touratech you header pipe won't be sticking out of the front of the skid plate and look how much money you saved...

well, I've finally finished my home made sump guard . . . . . .



Not my bestest effort, but it covers the bits I wanted covered, like the oil filter and the sump itself and to a degree the side cases as well. That sticky-out exhaust doesn't help with the layout of the guard. I was contemplating having a mesh filled cut-out in-front of the downpipe, but went for a series of holes instead.
It's never going to have to cope with fallen logs or seriously large boulders, so it'll suit me fine
