Sudden cut out
« on: July 20, 2016, 14:30:18 »
Stopped behind a stationery  lorry and bike cut out dead. With ignition off the time shows. With ignition on - nothing. Checked battery and fuses. All fine. Also checked side stand switch. Any ideas?

How did you check the battery? It needs to be under load for a voltage check to be valid. Your symptoms indicate a bad battery, battery cable or cable connection. The connections need to be clean and really tight. I had that happen to me once on a new bike and everything felt okay but the left battery cable did allow a little more tightening. That did the trick and everything was fine after that.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Thanks. The AA man came eventually and checked the battery. Had to drop it off at the menders. Hopefully something simple and not expensive.

Duff battery, good call. Also found a nail in the rear tyre while replacing the battery so an expensive weekend altogether.
