2008 DL1000 chudder or something else
« on: June 07, 2016, 21:53:01 »
My 2008 DL1000 32k is rough between 3and 4k. I have read about chudder but only in earlier models. Do later ones also suffer from this or is it to do with the throttle ecu etc
Thanks in advance

Chudder is something you feel through a part of the rev range rather than particular gears, it's a fairly heavy shudder or vibration that disappears as the revs build. I'd say it's something else but yes   2008 models could have  chudder.

Any 1000 can develop chudder in the 3000-4000rpm range. Here's how to check. http://www.vstrom.info/Smf/index.php/topic,7503.0.html
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Yes mine is between 3k and 4k revs(not gears). What's the solution? I have seen a few posts about changing the clutch springs or adding some shims, but it's not for the faint hearted. Is this something I need to get some a mechanic or is there someone, somewhere I can take the bike to who specialises in this and what sort of cost would it be?

My apologies, I read that as 3rd and 4th not 3-4k! All the info is in the link Greywolf shared, I removed my clutch and sent the basket to Sharealike  (John) I had it back on Friday. It cost £350 (I think!) Worth every penny.
