Cleaning the plastic on Suzy
« on: May 21, 2016, 15:15:46 »
Does anyone know of a product to whiten up the plastics as the white appears to have developed a yellow tinge.

Washing her doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas or tips.

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Never use cif on painted surfaces. It is a liquid powder and will scratch.

Joking aside Holmsey, I'm fairly certain the plastics are pearlescent base coat and laquer.http://www.detailingbliss.com/topic/24247-need-pointers-on-pearl-white-car/ seems to explain it all.

What parts have discoloured? I wrapped my top box panel. It's pretty easy on relatively flat and simple shapes. Having said that, I've pulled it off and primed it. I'm now going to try spraying in the same colour as the bike.

It's the tank panels that are worse .... I know it's not a massive issue but I keep seeing it now when I look at the bike.

Halfrauds Plastic paint is good, there's a post somewhere on here where I painted a Top Box.

OK.
Use tee cut gently on the paint, do not go at it hammer and tong, otherwise you could cut through the clear coat. Once its all nice and clean, use a decent wax to keep it that way, about once every three months.
Use a nice soft cloth, cheese cloth works well.
