Headlight beam deflectors for riding abroad ?
« on: March 15, 2016, 18:25:49 »
Visited the Dutch TT in Assen for the last 23 years. Always flown to Amsterdam and rented a car..This year however, I'm doing it properly, so bought myself an 06 strom, as didn't fancy the 400+ miles on an old Dominator ! Had a reasonable look around the forum to establish how to deflect my headlight beam, but can't find anything. Advice most welcome..Cheers

Point bike at a wall a few feet away on centre or paddock stand. Stand in front of right headlight. Observe dipped beam pattern and place beam deflector to prevent light straying to the left. Decide optimum position and fit beam deflector. Repeat for other head lamp.

Deflectors are not required as the beam does not dip to one side.
Do it today as there may not be a tomorrow.

Live in Rothley, Leicestershire.

The headlights are indeed the same in European bikes and bikes here, but are aimed to suit which side of the road you are riding on. Short of re-aiming the lights after each crossing the fitting of deflectors does the job and removes the necessity to explain your argument in a foreign language.
