front and rear spring advice
« on: January 28, 2016, 22:54:16 »
hi lads , had my first proper spin yesterday this year with my son pillion  and I thought that I'd get away for some time without sorting out the soggy suspension but NO it's got to be sorted it was so soft it was actually scary  so my question is what springs do I get ,  front I'm thinking 1.2k's  rear I don't know not wanting to spend huge so spring only- I'm 18.5 st and son is 7st ish and he will be with me on at least 90% of spins, anyone been there done that?? thanks

A pillion's weight is almost all on the rear. I think a 1.0kg/mm would be better on the front. 1.2 is crazy stiff. I don't know about the rear.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

maybe so or even 1.1 its just I'd rather have the spring right and very little if any preload, this thing will never be off road I might have to cut through the grass if the van is in the way but that's it , a few track days this year for sure, its just that with that engine and chassis which ain't bad either the suspension really lets it down, so tried and tested recommendations, what make?  progressive or not??  - I'm hoping to be out of it at around e300 £220ish, I've priced wilbers complete rebuild front n rear at e900 I would love to but I'm probably only going to put up about on average 1000 mile a year so that kind of money would be a waste, thanks
