'CE' approved standard clothing for bikers..
« on: January 23, 2016, 19:53:26 »
I got this email link today to  a press release from FEMA. Not sure why! I must have signed up for it though..

basically they're not trying to make CE approved clothing compulsory (yet) but it will have to meet minimum standards.

Is this a good thing -keeping us that bit safer or is it nanny state?

Usual EU money making scheme IMHO.

If you sell a motorcycle jacket you'll have to pay their registration fee and bung some Greek or Romanian test institute to CE mark it.

If you sell a motorcycle jacket (fashion ) you won't.

If you choose to ride in flip flops and a mankini it'll be up to national law to decide if its legal.

Nothing changes except some EU quango makes money from any one daft enough to pay and all the Euro MPs got a days pay for turning up.
