125W 3000LM CREE U5 DLRs
« on: October 15, 2016, 15:17:02 »
Brand new never used.

Bought these for my previous K8 vee but sold it before I could fix these. My new bike has them factory fitted so these are surplus to requirements.

3 modes: high, low and flashing. Can be used in single mode also (low would be most appropriate). Power usage is 15W.

Opened one from its shrink wrap to photograph it. They come with fixing brackets and you can keep the allen keys for free

£18 posted. If no takers they will go on eBay for £25.

They either switch everything they are turned off/on and have to cycle through each one in sequence until back to the one you want (very annoying!), or on mine I pulled the 'U2' chip off so they stay constantly in one mode (I think it's high)

Fat Rat, they do look identical to mine, but I paid £27 for them last year, so I don't know if they are the exact same ones or clones of each other

I dismantled the lights - which I was doing anyway to put silicone sealant around them as I heard they let water in. Inside there is a circuit board and one of the tiny chips is labelled 'U2'. Needle nose pliers and a sharp twist removed that chip. Reassembled and wired in via a switch. Now they just come on/off. (There was another post on here sometime ago which had pics on it).

Test the lights work before the butchery and fingers crossed it works  I also drilled an extra hole in the mounting bracket to help adjust the vertical beam down when mounting on the crashbars

I modded a set last winter but they lasted 1 wet ride, I pulled a chip off, I failed to re seal and water got in. I'm not going to bother modding again, I believe they will always start in high after been off, cycling modes requires them to be switched off then on again fairly quickly.
I posted photos last year :)

I also put sealant around the front lense too. Haven't been through winter yet, but it's had some wet rides and kept the water out when my rubbish poseidon jacket didn't. I'm pretty sure mine cycled to a different setting everytime I turned them back on including overnight parking otherwise I'm not sure I'd have bothered removing the chip

Just modded another pair. Here's a photo. This set are of a much higher quality than the original pair I had. Notice the chip missing, labeled U2.
