This'll please TLP
« on: January 20, 2016, 18:12:42 »
Found out today that the Suzuki fuel gauge does tell you when it's time to fill up..
On the way home from work this afternoon and saw that the last bar was flashing on the gauge. ... as I have done before I thought I had enough to get to my local garage .... how wrong was I ??,
Flying down the A406 at ??mph when Suzy started spluttering I was in lane 3 just before it goes into 6 lanes ... I checked over my shoulder and swept across to lane 1 where she cut out...   They are very heavy when you have to push them 1/2 mile ... Some uphill as well.
And before TLP bumps his gums I was nearly 260 miles on one tank .... TLP has 2 tanks and can only get half that distance  :)

Well boo hoo to you. Serves you right, I bet that was the petrol you had from the last Whitby run. Here's me doing my bit for the world economy, keeping oil companies in business and your Glee creates a glut forcing the stock market to fall. :dl_soapbox:

Funnily enough the price of oil fell today ... that's what I was waiting for. .. so its cheaper when I do fill up in the next 3000 miles  :lala:

Cheryls light comes on at 160 miles. You can still be riding at 300 miles when you stop and put 20 litres in the 22 litre tank. Guzzi kept the sender from the older 18 litre tanks

I don't think Mr. Suzuki did that badly.

As opposed to Katie where the light comes on about 150 if I've been careful and I've got about 20 miles before I'm pushing her.....

I get about 180 in the Vara then the light come on without warning as there is no fecking fuel gauge... on a bike made in 2009!
220 miles is the most I've strangled out of it when the light came on at 185.

Where my cx500 got a fuel gauge in 1983!

90 from full to reserve on the XV1700. Not much fun pushing 330kg, I wouldn't imagine.

Working it out it was more than 20 but less than 40 miles approximately as my trip to work is 10 miles .. It was flashing for 1 day that I know of then the trip to work and a the breakdown about a mile from my house on the way back.

That was riding at 55 mpg.

Hope that helps  :thumb:

Ahh, thank you.
That sounds about right then if the first starts flashing at about 1 gal, the second flashes at about 1/2 gal :)
