New Ride / commuter
« on: January 03, 2016, 21:59:01 »
Hello ,
After many years and 100k of great miles on my old 1997 CB500 I've decided to upgrade .
Here it is ... 2015 CB500F.

Now, this bike has alot to live up to so let's hope after alot of research it's worth the purchase .

Since I've bought it there has been a few upgrades already , new pilot 4 tyres , tail tidy , K&N filter , mudguard extender and soon to arrive will be better levers , radiator guard and some sort of crash protection, greased every bolt /spindles and anything I can get at as when assembled they don't seem to use grease !!  and I've barely covered 50miles !!.

I have been looking at the CB500X to replace my Wee for daily commuting duties. I'm only at 50k so might be able to squeeze a while longer out of it before it becomes economically unviable.

Can I ask what finally killed the old one?

The old one is still going strong @107k miles on the clock, I gave it to a work colleague.
I upgraded because it was a deal I couldn't  say no to .

They're cracking commuter bikes and surprisingly pokey too. Sold mine a couple of years ago with 63k on the clock. It still looked and performed like it was new. Wish I'd kept it.

Are you going to stick a hugger on there?

Agreed they are great bikes  :thumb: .

Personally I don't like huggers but I shall be making a little cover that will fit nicely to protect the rear shock .
