2006 throttle body pipe
« on: January 09, 2021, 13:30:13 »
Hello to everyone, Sorry not been on for a long time, I had the miss fortune to be run over by a 17ton tele handler whilst out for a ride on my lovely 2004 DL1000.. my bike was rather flattened and so was I but hoping to eventually repair my 2004 bike over time.  I did the throttle body sinc on my old bike but with the insurance  money I found a lovely 2006 model and I am attempting to do a TB sinc on this one but there is a strange pipe running from the front cylinder throttle body the come off one of the vacuum tubes  and runs all the way to the back of the bike tail unit, it is very thin and black about thew same size as the red straw you get with wd40 and I would be very grateful if anyone could tell me what it is please ? also is it factory fit or aftermarket?
Thank you

Mate, that sounds awful, sorry to hear about the accident but glad you're OK and back on a Strom.
That pipe is almost definitely the vacuum tube for a Scottoiler. The rest of the system may have been removed of course in which case I'd think you'd need to remove the pipe and plug the vacuum take off after sync or you'd have a vacuum leak. A photo might make certain but I'd put money on oiler.

Rixinton your a star, thank you so much. it did have a Scott oilier on it and I took it off but didn't realise the thin pipe was attached
I've been scratching my head about it as it was different to my older bike.
thanks again.
