Bent Crash bars....
« on: January 01, 2016, 18:28:17 »
Hi all, just a quick question really...my bike got blown over on the driveway overnight.
Now the heed crashbars took the brunt of the impact, which is good just slight scratches, but they have also bent by an inch or so.
My question is do I attempt to pull the bend back out or just leave as is...?
The bend isn't really noticeable, only when you compare side to side gapping.
Cheers Karl.

I had the Suzuki bars on my old Wee.
After a slide I did grab hold of the bars and pulled them away from the bike and getting them back into position. LHS was damaged on mine so I was sitting on the floor pulling towards the side stand and bike in gear.

I'm not sure how strong the HEED bars are, but it's worth a gentle try.

After a friend dropped his GS1200, the crash bars looked bent on one side. He slackened the mounting bolts/nuts & they pretty much popped back into their normal position. May be worth a try.

Same friend had a Vee before the beemer. He had Givi crash bars on that & they cracked on a weld (even though they'd never been dropped!). So would go gentle if just trying to bend back into shape.

Hi Sam...yes that's my worry that its created a weak spot....I did try today by pulling it just by hand, bloody tough bars these only just got  them to move but made no impact on them returning straight, I may just take them off am give them some treatment with a heavy rubber mallet. Thanks for the ideas blokes.
