one for the sparkys
« on: August 24, 2015, 21:02:34 »
my high beam won't work, nor will my pass switch. normal beam is fine but if I put main on all I'm left with is side lights, the blue warning light doesn't work either.
bulbs are fine and fuses are all fine

Have you checked the large loom plug behind the front left main panel .?  May have corroded pins ..

Main and High Beam and separately fused, but you seem sure you have checked that.

Other than that, both go through the same connector, so is it in good condition? Is it corroded?

I would expect the low beam to go off if the high beam is switched, so that is working OK?

Besides the large connector in the left side of the fairing, there is also a connector behind the radiator top shroud where the left handlebar switch loom plugs in. Take a second look at the high beam fuse too and check it electrically. It could also be the hi/lo switch itself. It's unlikely both bulbs burned out at the same time but check anyway. Do you use high beams in daylight riding?

I had problems with dipped beam on a Vee, see if the images in the post below help you. It was fairly obvious that the connector was the issue as it was getting very warm.
