Recommendations for Sat Nav backet / holder wanted
« on: August 17, 2015, 11:47:24 »
Hi

I currently have one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003 ... detailpage which does the job of holding a Sat Nav or phone in place, however as it sits on the handlebars it's a bit low, are there any ready made brackets that will allow me to fix it above the 'dashboard' or base of the screen?

A problem with this holder is that the protective screen is super shiny and reflects the sky and hi-viz jacket making the screen hard to read. Any suggestions or alternatives that people can recommend?

Thanks
Mark

I had the same et up. 8 Inch copper plumbing pipe with two 6mm holes that line up with holes behind the screen. You could always paint it first if you are bothered to. Dirt cheap.

Or maybe shrink wrap it?

If your looking for a GPS line of sight mount for the 2012+ DL650 V-Strom, we have a very popular solution which is laser cut from 4mm aluminium and comes complete with quality wellnuts and a 1" ball at about £32.00 including shipping to the UK. http://www.ravetechmotorcycles.com

Sorry to but in and for being a bit dumb but how you fit the case to the mount as posted by OP?  Would you use the ball part as attachment?

I have a similar issue and product but for my iPhone and would like it repositioned above the dash.

Chalky,

When you have one of these fitted (or something similar) you can do almost anything you want with your gadgets.

Ram Mount UK will sell you something that suits, I've bought a few balls & mounts from them in the past.

Yes, get rid of the plastic nut that covers the ball though.

Then buy something like this - http://www.ram-mount.co.uk/composite-do ... -1831.html

And now you can connect your balls together.    :thumb:

The plastic nut isn't covering a ball. It tightens the collets on a socket into which you would fit a ball.

I stand corrected. Yes I've just looked at one I had lying about in a cupboard and you're right... a Ram ball would fit into that plastic nut which looks like it could then be tightened by hand.
Ram Mount UK have what's required, but you'd still need the arm AND a ball.
