Where to look for engine replacement?
« on: June 03, 2015, 14:36:49 »
Hi,

Sorry if this was mentioned before but I couldn't find any last 2 yrs information.
After more then 200K Km on my DL650 it had come to changing the whole thing (engine).
It will be quicker and cheaper.
Looked in eBay with little results.
I am looking for a Suzuki DL650  engine (yrs 2004-2006 will do the trick) with known mileage.
Will appreciate new ideas to where to look for.

Many thanks,
Roy.

Rebuild it

It'd be the cheapest method, if you have the time to spare - gasket set, a few replacement seals, piston rings, maybe bearings...

And you get the pleasure of knowing it's all been done properly :)

Specially after looking at the rebuilt you've done

Where abouts in the country are you? If you do go down the rebuild route, I'm sure we can arrange for some help to be available for the scarier bits :)

I still have the 'special' tools too.

Thanks to all the great folks here at the forum.  Unfortunately living abroad at the moment but I really appreciate the help you offer  .

Made the math, including public transportation fees, insurance etc. It will be a better plan to go ahead and just replace the whole thing.

Saw an opportunity at BA Bikes, didn't find bad rep reports so far so I hope all will go well with that.

I will photo the whole process so we could learn a thing or two in the future.
