anyone fitted Heed crash bars to old style 650 ?
« on: March 11, 2015, 18:58:28 »
Just wondered whether you found it necessary to support the engine when undoing the engine mounting bracket bolts . Even though you do it one side at a time does their removal  and the weight of the engine cause the V shaped bracket to  to drop out of line ?
I didn't receive any instructions for the bars only for the skid plate installation.
thanks
Bill

I fitted Givi Bars rather than Heed, but it shouldn't be any different in terms of whether the engine is supported or not.

If you undo one side at a time, then all will be OK.

Easy job, no need to support the engine  :thumb:

Yes a simple job. About 20 minutes to fit.

The instructions for fitting Heed Bars say you must only do one side at a time, I fitted them to my Vee with no problems took about 30 mins but I am slow. :fix:

Did mine yesterday finally and they look great. Only one minor diificulty encountered and that was because one  of the bracket bolts was so  securely thread locked that I couldn't undo it without risking it shear off . After careful use of a blow torch to soften the compound it released and now all good.

Agree with the fact they look good - Best looking set of bars in my opinion!
Dropped my bike the other week ( trying to turn round fully loaded whilst halfway up a hill then a car decided to try and run me over so I had to drop it.... ### )

Bars worked perfectly...saved the plastic and infact didn't get any damage to them! Result.
