I have the Bridgestone Trail Wings - they are fitted on my 2013 Glee are going strong (7,000 miles).

When it's time to replace what is the BEST tyres?

On my Wee I had Metzeler Tourances (the original ones not the later Tourances).

I ride 100% on road.

The general concensus seems to be:-

For pure road use, fit the PR3 or the new PR4.

If you have any off-road use (don't forget your own drive, the gravel car park at work or the Garden Centre's etc) then fit Anakee2 or Anakee3. Do you use any loose covered lanes on any of your rides?

Martin,

thanks for that. I ride across the South Downs (on road) and there is plenty of loose gravel! Plus remember our roads in the UK are seriously crap, so we all effectively ride a little bit ''off road''.

I might replace them with Anakee 2 or 3s. When they need replacing, mean time keep them in place as they have plenty of rubber left on them.

You're doing well on those tyres. I burned through mine in about 5.5k.

This is probably a daft question (but bear with me, I still think TT100s are good tyres). But are Battle Wings (which I have on my Wee) the same as Trail Wings? I haven't so far (1000 miles or so) found a problem but then I'm not trying to get my knee down or deck the footrests.

I had Tourances on my Tiger and was very happy with them but refuse to change nearly-new tyres.

TT100s were, and still are, good tyres on the bikes they were designed for and their compounds have been updated over the years. I used to production race a CB500 on them and at the time they were the best tyres available. As has been said already, modern tyres will out perform 99% of riders 99% of the time and there is more bollocks talked about tyres (plus oils and screens) than anything else. You choose the tyres best suited to the type of riding you do I.e. all road (the majority?), road and some dirt or road and lots of dirt. Advice and comments on here should enable most riders to make the best choice. The biggest question is often where to get them at the best prices.

Battle Wings are not the same as Trial Wings, the latter being the crap ones.

Hi all. Replaced rear Trail Wing on 2011 DL650 about 2K miles ago and  the front will need replacing soon.
Looking on line the same supplier offers T Wing`s 110/80 R19 at prices ranges £66.00 to £95.00.Can anybody shed light on any difference, as all from Bridgestone ? Thanks for any info.
PS the front`s done over 13K,and still just about legal.

fit some anakees and we'll quickly see you retracting that statement.  :thumb:

Ditto !
Trail wings are utter shite, to the point that I thought my bike had been accident damaged when I bought it with 1800 miles on the clock .
I upgraded all the suspension and it still felt the same, just refused to go round corners.
Stuck Anakee 2s on it, Hello presto, different bike.
Putbinoot of this parish rode my bike before and after the tyres were changed and will probably confirm just how bad it was and what a difference decent rubber made.
