DL1000 seat
« on: October 11, 2014, 18:43:24 »
I sat on a 2003 DL1000 today and the seat was much softer than my DL650 seat.

Is this normal or was I sitting on a gel seat and didn't know it do you think?

The DL1000 seat is 20mm higher than the DL650 seat and has more padding in it.

So, for comfort, it would be good to get myself a 1000 seat?...Mine is like sitting on a board after that....lol

I did over 1000 miles in one day a few years back on a Wee with a Vee seat and a sheepskin pad. It was more like a survival exercise running ahead of a big storm though. Aftermarket seats are more comfortable. If you don't plan any all day rides and can trade seats with a short legged Vee owner though, that may be a good idea.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Couldn't find a seat in the UK so I took the seat to an upholsterer who does bike seats. He is going to insert about 1.5 inch of memory foam....I'll try that.
