thinking of buying a v strom
« on: September 26, 2014, 21:38:50 »
Hi folks.  I have a tiger 800 and I'm thinking of  buying a v. Anyone moved from a tiger to  v strom? I'm a  bit worried about the cutting out and the idle hammer I've heard about, plus the comfort 2up as the wife goes everywhere with me, any thoughts?   Plus we here in  Northern Ireland only have one dealer and he wants 8800 for a standard bike, no kit. Is that any good. The kit would cost a other grand

Hi Porter, never had a tiger so I can't help you there. No reason though why the Veek should be any less good at two up. I've had no issues with cutting out or idle hammer or anything else for that matter. Price wise I would say £8000 tops now for the standard bike, I would offer him £9000 for the lot or walk away.
If you think you can, or you think you can't, either way; you're right.

Hi, two weeks ago I traded my BMW R1200 GS (2006) for a 650 V Strom because it was such a great deal, as you probably are aware Suzuki have taken £1,000 of the price of several models inc the V Strom, my new V Strom Bike was reduced from £6,800 down to £5,800 and I am thrilled with it, much lighter for my 54 year old bones, just as quick really with loads of grunt and excellent fuel consumption. The only extra I have purchased nyself is a Givi Airflow screen, and I would like a more comfortable seat (as would my wife) but that said its been a great experience so far, regards, Steve.

Good choice I reckon Steve and the new ones are a steal at the moment. Welcome.

Ta for Replies blokes. There's not a grand off the 1000  just the 650, not here anyway. I'd like more power than the tiger has,  not for speed  but overtaking etc and  better brakes as tigers are crap 2 up

Hi, we've just bought a new V2 1000 and just done our first 2UP ride over the twisty roads of the North Yorkshire Moors. Our V2 has 1100 miles on the clock. Its riding better and better, I'm just uploading my Gopro footage now actually of the ride. Been riding a 650 Wee for the last 5 years. You cannot compare this new 1000 with previous Stroms. Its a totally different bike. Its absolutely great and when you ride it, you'll understand why there is a price difference. The ride is top quality in every way. My riding buddies comment just how well I'm taking corners. The suspension is 100% better than before even more so for 2UP. My advice is get one! BRILLIANT! :thumb:
