I deleted the picture with the VIN number, don't want anyone using it for anything dodgy :thumb:

Kept picture with the engine serial number of 65432N1 then  :thumb:

Mine has the same engine number, which one is the real 65432N1?

I've seen a few posts where people thought that gear shift display was a serial number. I still find it difficult to read when I'm trying to shift gears.  :)

:) I had to file mine off - the temptation to check I was changing gear right was too much.

Right lads I'm proper confused now!
Cosmo sent me a 650 brace and another 1000 brace to try on my bike.

The 650 brace is far too small so that confirms I have the normal 1000 forks on the bike.
BUT the new 1000 brace is the exact same as the old one. It just doesn't tighten onto the forks at all.

Does it fit except for a gap at the ends? There is supposed to be a gap.
Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.

Same as the video above man.

Tighten up all 4 bolts as tight as possible and the brace just slides off the forks. It simply doesn't clamp onto them.

There I go joining a thread late again and missing the pertinent info. Sorry for the interruption.

There are 4 time zones in the USA. I'm in the Midwest. It's more like 6 hours from GMT. Still, this site is pretty much dead to me after about 6PM local time but there are plenty of posts waiting when I get up in the morning.

How much smaller is the 650? The two braces differ for 1,something mm. Do you have a digital caliper to take some messurements?

Unfortunately I don't man. But I will be dropping a message to EireSkull and try it on his bike.

The 650 one doesn't fit onto my forks at all. Its simply too small to slot into them in behind the front mudguard.

I met up with EireSkull yesterday to see if I was just nuts and doing something wrong.

We confirmed the 650 brace is too small. I definitely have the normal forks for my bike.

The 1000 braces I have fit on EireSkulls bike fine but do not clamp onto my forks as seen in the YouTube video.

So there must be a tiny fork size difference on a 2010 vee. Pretty sure its a K9.
As this is the only explanation

Every year of the DL1000 from 2002 to 2012 in the USA after the bike was discontinued in the UK had the same part numbers for the outer fork tubes. There was no 2010 or 2011 in the USA. Worldwide, 2009 model year Suzukis are K9 and 2010 model year bikes are L0. Did you buy the bike new?

51130-06G00 is the part number for the right hand outer tube
51140-06G00 is the part number for the  left hand outer tube

No man, I bought it second hand.
Its a 2010 reg bike but its list as a K9.

Could of been bought into a dealer in 2009 and just registered in 2010.

Either way, the fork braces don't fit my bike.

I had done a motoecheck on the bike and its list as:

Suzuki DL1000 K9 Full Power Street Model

I wonder if the previous owner did something to the forks.

I thought the same but I'm not really sure what he could do apart from put 650 forks on for some reason but I have confirmed they are not 650 forks.

I can see what looks like a part number on the fork tubes but I can't see all of it because the disc is in the way.

I can probably get the details of the previous owner and text him but I think he might get a bit pissed wondering how the hell I got his contact details. Might be worth it though.

There are numbers cast into some parts, but they are not Suzuki part numbers. Many parts are sub contracted and it's likely the forks are made by Showa. The numbers will be from the maker.
