And an RRP of £9999 as well, and it isn't hard to find it lower either.

They've selected 'the most popular...'  so are there really potential buyers out there who prefer some stickers on the side panels rather than a Centre Stand?

In the words of Victor Meldrew....

...that's bullshit?

Cost might be a factor though, the stickers will be a lot cheaper than a centrestand. I find it hard to understand why they'd put those virtually useless panniers on and not an infinitely useful centrestand.

What's the betting that there'll be no dealer that would swap the panniers for a centre stand!

Hopefully someone will make some lids that can be bolted on and take the panniers from almost useless to useful.

I like it, but I really don't want one. I'm looking at smaller, not bigger... Midlife crisis perhaps? I might come back to it when my Glee has served its time.

Does the centre stand reduce the ground clearance on one side like it does on the wee?

I get the feeling on the wee that it was a bit of an after thought. There was the clearance issue, and after a couple of years of use the pivot started to wear so it wasn't completely stable.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

The pegs do scrape so if a center stand reduces ground clearance which it will I don't want one can't see why it's such a need.

General maintenance, cleaning, stability on crappy road but I would be interested to know how much ground clearance is affected.

Well, I'm very glad I have a centre stand on mine, but then it was free, along with the heated grips, as I ordered mine right after the launch.

I don't think ground clearance is altered too much. You normally get a slightly longer 'hero blob' for the clutch side so your footpeg grinds before the centre stand. I think (without checking) it's about half to double as long than the standard. I never scrape my footpegs anyway so never an issue for me (even with them lowered). I'd rather have a centre stand than not on a big with a chain otherwise it's a PITA to clean/lube properly.

I've never had problems with the clearance of the centre stand on my Wee either. The left hero blob is longer and scratches a fair way before the centre stand is going to.

I've just ridden my 1000 down to Sheffield and back to Glasgow this weekend. All the luggage on and wifey on the back, we took the tourist route from Penrith to Kendal to Hawes to Rippon etc, and I didn't scrape the centre stand. Mind, I didn't scrape the pegs either, but the tyres are scrubbed right to the edge. :)))

Just fitted the SW-Motech centrestand to mine and with that stand there is no way that you are going to get the stand to touch the ground before lots of other bits of the bike have been ground to dust.
