It says it's a demo bike but it hasn't done a lot of demonstrating in 7 miles.

Perhaps it had been raining? lol
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

The trouble with Millenium/KJM is they advertise bikes at these prices but you'll struggle to get the bike out of them at that price. There will be admin fee's etc they'll stick on.

If you have a part ex they will bid you in the bollocks, people seem to fixate on the price of the bike but at the end of the day if your part-exing all that counts is the price to swap.

At that price there is no profit in it, they've got to make a profit somewhere.

There has to be a catch, show rooms are expensive as are wages. They won't stay afloat long making profits like that. But then these big stack 'em high sell 'em cheap dealers always go bang eventually.

I bought my Glee from them. Pre-reg Suzuki owned. 500 miles on the clock a shed load of OEM extras £5300.
Three years later, I'm still grinning.

Not go the "adventure" accessories, but a nice price for someone, IMO:

It's getting there but it's still a £7995 bike.

That will be the price by Christmas. I think it will always be a slow burner in terms of sales. Most people that have 8k to spend on a bike have 10 or 12k for the "right" bike, so they have the market shared with the versys for lightish, adventure, kind of sporty, no off-road pretentions, no shaft drive, no BMW badge, no cruise control, litre plus sized bike.

Those wanting the BMW badge (fools) won't consider it, they will by a GS. Those wanting shaft drive won't consider it, they will buy a BMW or Yamaha. Those intending to take it off road won't consider it, they will buy a BMW, KTM or Yamaha. Those wanting ultimate performance won't consider it, they will buy a Aprilia, KTM or Ducati. There is still a market share for them though, but judging by the Versys 1000 sales, it isn't a big one in this country and similar to the market share of the old Vee.
Now on a Super Tenere having put 64k miles on a 2011 DL650

I think it's Ride who said at £10k the price was for those who couldn't afford another 10% for a bike that would be more than 10% better. Though all the alternatives they showed had significant (to me) cons. As for travelling with it, the one from Bike magazine seems to be doing OK, admittedly, not very well in sand.

Those who are intelligent will just keep a fully depreciated Wee/Vee and have loads of fun on it  :)

Nothing like a sweeping generalisation to demonstrate one's omniscience [as a bike journo, not you ONJ]! Or more plainly put, as far as my own purchase was concerned, nonsense.

To be fair, the bike didn't do well in the sand on standard road tyres.

Who else didn't know what omniscience was?

I've just read the article in BIKE, I thought it was quite positive. The rider for the 2nd leg seemed very impressed with the 70 mpg at a steady 50 mph. Regarding the sand incident, realistically any laden road biased bike will become bogged in sand unless it is being ridden by some riding god, off road tyres fitted  or not.

The journo riding the 2nd leg was a travel writer, rather than the usual staffer with a boat load of riding experience.

Sorry, just easier than typing all knowing about everything etc (which I've now typed, so didn't really save anything really! :-))

Came across this review yesterday, which was interesting given the rider's current and previous bikes and ambivalence about Suzukis in general: http://www.roadtrooper.com/Suzuki-strik ... a-v-strom/

Yeah, it surprised him didn't it. I think many riders who dismiss the Vstroms out of hand would be very surprised by the new ones. I was one of them, even after owning the very underrated GSX650F. I never considered a lumbering, uninspiring Vstrom and only test rode the Glee so I could satisfy myself that I'd ridden all the mainstream competition before I bought a tiger 800. Lesson learned.
