They are both switched. The aux connector is a low wattage one limited to things like charging sat navs and phones. Overtax it and you blow the ignition fuse, bringing the bike to a halt. The heated grip connector can handle more power. Overtax it though and you blow the signals fuse, losing the turn indicators and brake light.
