HELLLLP please. ....Mal Northumberland.
« on: March 02, 2014, 14:28:08 »
So just got vstrom last week, ... Thought it would be easy to kit out for a bit of touring....

We want some top end touring panniers that come with the rack system, we've found loads without then when you put in the part details loads of different racks come up.. May seem simple to those in the know however I have no idea about this stuff whatsoever.

Cheers

http://www.givi.co.uk/my-motorcycle#SUZ ... Strom_(02_>_11)

That page should show you the Givi stuff that will fit your bike. Note that there are Monokey and Monolock fitting types. You want to use Monokey as the larger, better cases and top boxes are of this type. Note that there is something called V35 Monokey, stay away from that, your pannier options are very limited, just normal Monokey is good.

Assuming you need panniers and a top box you need pannier rails and a top box plate. The pannier rails for Monokey is part number PL528 and the top box Monokey plate (with special bracket for fitting to the V-Strom luggage rack) is part number E528. Then all you need to do is pick which Monokey topbox and panniers you want.

Top boxes are all here: http://www.givi.co.uk/products/cases
Panniers are all here: http://www.givi.co.uk/products/side-hardbags
Remember to filter by Monokey.

For a top box consider the V46, E52 and E55 boxes are all good.
For panniers the E41 KEYLESS are decent.

If you ever sell the Vee you can keep your panniers and top box and just buy the Monokey pannier rails and plate for you next bike to use your boxes again.

There are other manufacturers out there, but Givi stuff is good value for money and they work. Kappa is a brand owned by Givi and often sell similar products with a different badge so you can see if you can find Kappa boxes for better prices. They also use the Monokey system.
