Headlights
« on: January 12, 2014, 10:57:46 »
Hi
I have a 2012 DL650 & the headlights have failed
On a couple of previous occasions I have noticed the lights go out & come back on again when I put the steering on full lock
This time they have not come back on as if I've somehow pulled on a connection on the wiring
Any clues ?

There is a black connector behind the rad that is the usualy suspect here.
I had the same exact problem a few months back.
Took all the pins out of the connector and cleaned off the corrosion and all was well.
You can chase the cable from the rhs switches on the bars down to give you the connector that's most likely the problem.

ACF50 on contacts and connectors helps, especially with those who ride in salt water in winter. A good way to head off headlight problems is to install headlight relays. Those who understand a do wiring can do it for very little money. Others can get a plug and play kit like http://www.easternbeaver.com/Main/Bike_ ... tml#h4dual with variations lower on the page.

The contacts in the starter button switch that turn off the headlights are the biggest surveyed problem area with the radiator shroud connections and a connector under a rubber cover in the left side of the fairing reported in lower numbers. http://www.stromtrooper.com/information ... s-not.html

Since yours involve steering inputs, the connector on the radiator shroud is the likely suspect as it is where the wires from the handlebar switch connect.
