Whistling with Airflow screen

Hi there
Has anybody experienced a whistling/whine at certain speeds?  I fitted an Airflow about 3 weeks ago and now find that at just over 60mph a whining develops.  Going a bit faster I go through it, but it comes back about 70mph!
 

At first I thought it may have been something like a tight chain, as I'd also just fitted lowering links, but that all seems OK.  But anyhow I can't think that I'd hear that just at certain speeds.
I've adjusted the upper screen from top to bottom & it doesn't seem to make a difference.  Took the top screen off completely & there was no chance of hearing a whistle above the wind noise!
I may have to put the original screen back on just to see if it goes away (but maybe I wouldn't be able to hear it anyway above the buffeting...)
Any ideas gratefully received.

Nope, nothing at all with my airflow in any angle or setting

My AIrflow doesn't have it. I have the lower screen on top holes. Have you tried changing position of lower screen? Is the whistle maybe coming from your mirrors? Try bending completely your mirrors inwards and see (I mean mirrors and stems).
If it's mirrors it may be that your original screen pushes the air the different way to the mirrors.
I have Aprilia Tuono mirrors on extenders.

Thanks for the post Stevied was beginning to think I was the only one that had a whistle on the V-Strom with my screen!  

Even had the bike back to the shop to be checked out in case it was engine/suspension related?!  

Adjusted and re-adjusted without any fix, but had never thought of the mirrors, will give that a try!

After that, next step would be during a whistle to run your hand at the front of various parts on the bike: fairing, screen, mirrors, bars, headlights etc.
Don't forget it can be your helmet as well.

After some experimenting, I don't think it's the screen after all!

1.  Mirrors off.  Makes no difference (except the buffeting caused by the mirrors disappears, and it's very disconcerting not knowing exactly what numptys are behind).

2.  Original screen back on.  Exactly the same.  But trying the screens one after the other makes you realise how brilliant the Givi Screen is.  Makes an enormous difference!

So back to the drawing board.  The only thing that has changed is that I fitted lowering links, and also dropped the forks as recommended.  Does anybody think that could have changed the aerodynamics enough to create a whining/whistle just at certain speeds?  It builds up at 60mph and disappears above 70mph.

Or there's something mechanical, but why at just a certain speed range?

I'm near the end of a 3 month warranty with the dealer, so I'll be on the phone and get up there to see if they can suggest anything (but they'll probably try to wriggle out of anything that costs!).

OK, there is one more radical test to do. Buy a lot of wide paper (painter) adhesive tape. You've excluded mirrors and screen already so no need to mess with them. Next, cover all of your fairing at the front as much as possible, and on the sides as well with especial care of the gaps (to be well covered). At the end, it has to be as all of body parts has transformed in one single part. If that doesn't change anything, then you have to go to mechanical parts, even radiator. For radiatior, bike completely cold, quick 1 minute run to whistling speed - stop - remove covering tape.
All that is very time and effort demanding job, but if you're like me, you'd do it. I never give up.

This noise can happen if the speedo drive is not properly located/greased.
It has been mentioned on other vstrom sites.

CASE CLOSED!!

Front wheel bearing after all that. GP Suzuki in Grimsby had it back and managed to track it down, really helpful and good service (there's a new service manager who's excellent).
Just shows how easy it is to jump to the wrong conclusion.
