Footrest lowering plates for DL650
« on: June 23, 2013, 12:59:19 »
I haven't picked up my Wee yet but am awaiting a DL1000 seat from Mad Phil and also considering lower footrests to ease my knees. I was thinking about Buell pegs as I had on the Tiger, but came across these: http://www.adventuretech.biz/footpeg-an ... g-kit.html

They look very nicely made, are well reviewed and a reasonable price, but shipping costs to the UK are quite high.

I wondered whether anyone else was interested as the supplier says he will send 3 sets at the same shipping price so we could make a bit of a saving?

I'll probably be ordering by next weekend so let me know by then if you want some.

It's around $30 - say £20.

Not that much but as they say every little helps.....

I have them on my wee, I'd recommend them.

Have them on my Glee, saves the knees. Fitting kit includes a split pin for the brake lever side.

I take it you chaps with them fitted haven't had any ground clearance problems? Although I have to say my cornering perhaps isn't as "enthusiastic" as it once was.

I've fitted them and although I have not had any issues so far with clearance I must be getting close as occasionally I feel the front of my boot scraping the road  :)

I have scraped the pegs occasionally but the angle is pretty extreme to do so.

Just unscrew the hero blobs, they are longer than the peg is lowered.

Must admit I've never quite seen the point of these and removed them from the Tiger's original pegs (the Buell ones have integral blobs). They did seem very good at getting caught in my trouser legs.....

Peg scrapers are often not using the best body position.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. 2012 DL650A outlasted me.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 (K2-L2) DL1000s. Veek=2014+ (L4+) DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 (K4-L1) DL650s. Glee = 2012+ (L2+) DL650s

Yep. If you're regularly scrapping pegs you need to shift body weight and hang off a bit (more). Otherwise one day your luck will run out.
