Unusual Symptom
« on: July 29, 2013, 18:50:07 »
My Vee tends to run great and nice and clean.

It does however, occassionally, have an annoying habit.

Every so often, and with no pattern,, when I pull the clutch in to stop or slow, the bike stalls.  It starts up again immediately and runs fine, but I would obviously rather it didn't do it.

It has been serviced, including full oil and filters, as I thought it may be a blocked air filter.  Plugs not checked but the bike is runing clean otherwise.

The bike has aftermarket cans, but it did it with the original cans on as well.

Anyone any ideas on the cause/solution?

Bigfoot, mine does this occasionally, not sure why but the only thread I could find closely related is this one:-

I noticed when engine is warm my idle speed is 1000rpm, so going to adjust.

Easy things first, check the idle is set to 1200 rpm when warmed up. Can increase it ever so slightly if it's already at 1200 to see if it makes a difference.

Would agree with the above, only time I've seen or heard of this is when the idle speed is a tad too low, it then surges a little and drops below the lower limit and stalls. Not all the time, just occasionally to really annoy the hell out of you.

Mine did it the day I collected it and I increased tickover by a fraction, never done it since.
