Backfire?
« on: July 07, 2013, 10:17:19 »
On the way back form a recent trip through France and Belgium my 1000 developed a misfire at low revs (a popping sound), but not in the exhaust, I think in the air filter area.  It did seem to get a little better after the next fill up on fuel in the UK but is still there.

Any ideas of where to start looking.  My bike is a 2006 model with after market cans and no changes to the bike apart from this.  It has always suffered a slight misfire at lower revs but not as bad as this.  At one point it was almost only running on one cylinder.  At higher revs (over 3000rpm) all seems to be OK.

All pointers welcome.

Rubber bits in the injector body area or coils would be where I'd be looking.

I'm sure I've read complaints of the inlet rubbers easing themselves off and letting air in . The mod is to refit them and wire them on . I'll try find a pic ..

Cheers all.

After looking at my bike for me, Keith Cross, a member of this forum has just called me to let me know it was as thought, the manifold for the rear injector to intake had come off, letting air in.  All sorted.

Thanks to all on here for your assistance.

OK fixed Hyde Ends bike.  It amazes mew that the bike was still running really well, with only the odd hic up with the manifold between inlet and injector disconnected.

Easy fix to do as well.

That's not the injector. It's the boot between the throttle body and the intake port. You blokes are trying to confuse me. #16 is the injector.

Can't help with the backfire, but I'm guessing by the name and the location that you live on the same road my parents live on, where I was brought up! Shinfield end or Spencer's Wood end?
